What is eRACE Lung Cancer?

eRACE Lung Cancer is LUNGevity Foundation’s month-long activity challenge for runners, walkers, swimmers, cyclists, and participants of all abilities that raises funds and awareness for lung cancer research and programs. In 2021, in its 2nd year, this challenge raised over $158,000 and brought together 435 participants, including 39 lung cancer survivors.

When does the event take place?

eRACE Lung Cancer takes place during the month of May – Lung Cancer Hope Month! Set your own mileage goal for the month and log your workouts from May 1-31.

Where does the event take place?

Complete your miles wherever you’d like! Indoor and outdoor workouts both count!

How far should I go?

That’s your choice! Set a personal mileage goal for the month – it could be 5 miles, 15 miles, 50 miles, or even 100! Then log your miles (run, swim, bike, or activity of your choice) between May 1-31.

Is there a time limit?

No! You can complete your miles at any time of day, at any pace, any and every day that you’re able to. Activities can be any duration. The only limit is that your mileage will only be counted between May 1-31.

What’s included in my registration?

Your free registration includes access to our fundraising app with activity tracking, an online community of LUNGevity athletes, fundraising tools and challenges, and opportunities to earn eRACE Lung Cancer swag and prizes – plus, the satisfaction of helping the 235,000 Americans who will be diagnosed with lung cancer this year.

Is fundraising required?

Fundraising is not required, but strongly encouraged! The funds you raise through this program will help fund scientific research, educational materials, and resources like our Lung Cancer HELPLine and Lung Cancer Navigator mobile app.

How do I use the RUN LUNGevity mobile app?

More info coming soon.

Do I have to use the RUN LUNGevity mobile app?

No, but we hope you’ll give it a try! It has a lot of great features, including achievement badges and leaderboards, and it’s free from the Apple Store and Google Play. The app is the only way we’ll be tracking mileage – individually and overall – so if you want a shot at getting on the leaderboard, you’ll have to connect to the app!

Can I do eRACE Lung Cancer along with other virtual races or training?

Absolutely! eRACE Lung Cancer pairs well with lots of other events. If you’re already registered for a race in May or training for another event, why not count those miles too? Every mile you want to count, counts!
