Hi Friends and Family,

As many of you know this past August Jim was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. His is a cancer that happens to non-smokers from a gene that has mutated and due to a protein present on the cells known as EGFR, it causes rapid growth and spread. For Jimbo, this sadly means it has spread to his bones & brain. Aside from dealing with this diagnosis during a pandemic, we are also in the midst of my breast cancer battle. To say Team Burke has had a rough go of it is an understatement!  However, friends, family, and science have been vital to our drive to stay steadfast in our pursuit to make this experience both meaningful and helpful to those who are currently battling, as well as to the doctors researching these groundbreaking drugs to ensure lung cancer patients live longer, healthier lives.

As Jim began his treatment path, I asked friends & family to think of us and send their best intentions into the universe between 5 - 6pm. This is the time Jim takes his medicine - it's a once a day pill known as Tagrisso (a serious game changer for this stage of metastasis).  Because he was taking his tagrisso at this time I jokingly referred to it as "Tag Time Happy Hour".  Little did I know it would ignite colleagues, friends & family from near &  far to call, text, and create videos of them toasting to Jim and send our way nightly.  People even dropped off wine & champagne at our home to keep the Tag Time spirit up! It has fortified my intense belief in human connection and trying to "do good" even when you are faced with extraordinary circumstances.

Our Tag Time Happy Hour inspired our dear friend & Chef, Jeremy Fox, to host an actual Happy hour at one of his establishments in Santa Monica, CA. Birdie G’s will host an “Uplifters/Tag Time Happy Hour” beginning tonight, March 15th 2021. And because of Jeremy’s gracious gesture, we are asking others to consider making a donation or hosting a happy hour in honor of Jim Burke to raise funds needed to fight lung cancer.

Proceeds from these events will benefit LUNGevity Foundation, the leading private provider of research funding for lung cancer, We are making a personal commitment to help them raise money to support their vital work - will you help us please?
