[2016]Bank of America Chicago Marathon

I run because I can. I run for those who can't and on Sunday, October 9, 2016, I will be returning to Team LUNGevity and running my fifth Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

My goals have changed throughout the years.  For my fifth marathon I am raising my goal from $1500 to $2000 to raise funds to help end lung cancer - the top cancer killer that abruptly took my grandfather away from me when I was 9 years old.

Proceeds from this event will benefit LUNGevity Foundation, the leading private provider of research funding for lung cancer. I'm making a personal commitment to help them raise money to support their vital work - will you please help me?

About LUNGevity Foundation

LUNGevity Foundation is firmly committed to making an immediate impact on increasing quality of life and survivorship of people with lung cancer by accelerating research into early detection and more effective treatments, as well as providing community, support, and education for all those affected by the disease.

In order to accomplish our mission, LUNGevity funds the most promising research into the early detection and successful treatment of lung cancer. LUNGevity also supports the largest national grassroots lung cancer network, as well as the largest online support community for those affected by lung cancer.

The Statistics

  • Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death, regardless of gender or ethnicity.
  • One in 15 people will be diagnosed with lung cancer, and it kills more people than colorectal, breast and pancreatic cancers combined.
  • Lung cancer kills almost twice as many women as breast cancer, and almost three times as many men as prostate cancer.
  • About 60% of all new lung cancer diagnoses are among people who have never smoked or are former smokers.

Please join me in my efforts to stop lung cancer--the leading cancer killer--now!

Thanks, you're the best!

-Deanne, xoxo
